23 AUG, 2024

The Desuung Skilling Programme (DSP) had the honor of welcoming Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Lesotho, on a visit to the Choego Centre today. During the visit, the Chairperson of DSP presented an overview of the programme’s background and achievements, highlighting its significance as an initiative of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. The Choego Centre, named by His Majesty, provides Desuups with hands-on training and support, empowering them to launch their own ventures.

After their tour of Choego, Their Majesties visited Kaja Throm, another visionary project brought to life under the guidance of His Majesty the King. Kaja Throm has been transformed into a vibrant, family-friendly destination. Managed by Desuups trained in culinary arts, it now offers an array of food stalls, reflecting His Majesty’s vision of revitalizing the area.

The DSP team expressed their deep gratitude for the royal visit, which we view as a significant source of encouragement for the programme's continued success.

Launched a 'Cultural Tour Guide course'
22 AUG, 2024

The De-suung Skilling Programme (DSP) has launched a 'Cultural Tour Guide course' for two cohorts, comprising 80 De-suups, beginning on 20 August 2024 at the DSP Centre in Phaduna, Punakha. This 4-month intensive course aligns with the curriculum of the BQF Certificate II under TVET Quality Control. In addition to the core content, the course includes training in communication skills, social etiquette, and an introduction to foreign languages and cultures.

This initiative by DSP addresses the shortage of skilled tour guides in the tourism industry, contributing significantly to the sector.
